Teaching character education isn’t something you do to kids, it’s something you do with kids.
We believe that our students don’t need more to do in their day, they need more caring adults.
As we build rapport with our students, we include character education to better prepare our students for employment readiness. Incorporated in their studies they will learn about goal setting, community services, study skills, time management, conflict resolution and team management.
FISH PHILOSOPHY—Four Concepts: Play, Make Their Day, Be There and Choose Your Attitude. These are the ingredients that make the World Famous Pike Place Fish Market and Tri-Rivers an engaging environment for staff and students.
Throughout the year we follow the Fish Philosophy. It is about choosing your attitude each day. It is about a deep accountability where each of us chooses—moment to moment—what kind of day we will have and how to work together as a team to reach higher achievements. These skills are also enhanced through the Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), Ambassador Club, and National Technical Honor Society.
Every month students are selected from each career pathway and recognized as “Students of the Month.” These students participate in a celebration where they are honored. They each receive a red “TRCC Student of the Month” lanyard and a certificate for their career passport portfolio.
