Veterinary Science students had the opportunity to observe Dr. Scott Yancey, with the assistance of vet tech Melissa Seavolt, demonstrate spaying and neutering procedures, Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, in the surgery suite in Tri-Rivers Veterinary Lab.

The animals, from the Marion Area Humane Society, will be returned there after recovering from surgery.

Their instructor is Carrie Heimlich. Students who complete the program are prepared to work as veterinary assistants and can pursue a two-year veterinary technician associate’s degree and if they pass a national board examination begin a career as a vet tech. They can also continue their education and become a veterinarian.
