“We divided our anniversary celebration into a series of events so we could feature various areas,” said Ellen Messenger, Director of Communications. “All of the events are open to the public; however, we sent out invitations to individuals and businesses directly associated with the programs featured at each event. Our kick-off event, the Manufacturing Day, in September was well attended. FFA celebrated Harvest Week

TRCC FFA tractor 2015

During Harvest Week, Tri-Rivers students dressed according to the theme. For the privilege they paid one dollar each day or donated a can of food; both were donated  to local food banks.

Harvest Week included pay-to-play games such as an M&M eating contest, an Ohio State vs. Michigan car bash, and a corn hole tournament during all  lunch periods.

This year, they raised over $500 dollars and donated over 180 cans of food to two local church food banks in Marion and Morrow county.

We want to thank all farmers around the country who work hard for us to put food into our markets.

Open House Postcard 2015-1

Tri-Rivers invites you to their 40th Anniversary Open House, Thursday, December 10, 2015, 5:30-7:30pm. The event is open to the public. “All of our career tech labs and academic classrooms will be open during the evening with demonstrations and contests in full swing. I hope people take this opportunity to tour through the building and ask questions,” said Ellen Messenger, director of communications. “We always say Tri-Rivers is a school where you are allowed to, inspired to, and expected to be amazing. We truly believe that and I think you’ll see that when you come to Open House.”

“We are encouraging sophomores interested in attending Tri-Rivers next year to come and bring people who care about them and their futures,” said Bobby Gossom, career connections coordinator. “Along with the lab and classroom activities, I’ll be available to assist future students and their parents with questions about programs, college credits and career planning.”

“Sophomores planning to attend the Career Center next year will have the opportunity to complete their online applications—with assistance from TRCC guidance counselors—in the Tri-Rivers computer lab at Open House.  “They will receive a mug for completing it during the Open House and be entered in a prize drawing,” said Sherrie Dunn, lead guidance counselor. “Some programs fill up fast and I highly recommend students get their applications in early.”

Gossom said the Open House also offers middle school students and their parents an opportunity to check out all the programs and changes at Tri-Rivers. “We recently had 8th graders in for tours. They can return with their parents to show them around the school. This will assist the students—and their parents—as they plan for their high school years.”

“We hope everyone will join us—if you haven’t seen Tri-Rivers in awhile, you really haven’t seen Tri-Rivers!” said Messenger. “There will be prize drawings in all of the labs, as well as culinary delights in celebration of our anniversary.”

The Career Center offers the following programs: Veterinary Science, Digital Media & Entertainment, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Healthcare Professions, Criminal Justice, Computer Networking Electronics Technologies (CNET), Engineering Technologies, Advanced Machining, Welding & Fabrication, Automotive Technology and Ag & Industrial Power Technology. The Adult Center Open House will be in the Spring 2016. For more information on Tri-Rivers Career Center and Center for Adult Education visit tririvers.com, ramtecohio.com and TriRiversNursing.com or call 740-389-4681.

DME student interns with TRCC Marketing Department

Olivia MuellerOlivia Mueller, a senior in the Digital Media & Entertainment program, is interning with Tri-Rivers Director of Communications Ellen Messenger.

“Olivia is a very talented young woman,” said Messenger. “She will work with me for one period a day on various projects. But her main assignment will be doing the production of the Senior Hall of Fame posters.”

Weslee Heller 2016

The posters feature Seniors who have been accepted to college, an apprenticeship, the military or have obtained employment in their career field. Once the posters are completed, they are displayed on our Amazing Students! Hall of Fame wall. Graduating Seniors also receive a copy of the poster.

“Olivia has already created a nice design for the posters as seen above. As photos and information come in, she will work in Adobe Photoshop to crop and correct the submitted photos and in Illustrator to complete each poster,” said Messenger.

She will also have the opportunity to create other posters, designs and to assist with events and other marketing projects.

Upon graduation, Olivia plans to go into the workforce first and then attend an art school with a focus on photography.

Seniors!! Forms Can Be Picked Up in Student Services

Be sure to pick up the forms in Student Services and return them with

a good photo or email the photo to your counselor.

If you do not have a photo let your counselor know and Olivia can take one.
