RAMTEC the first training facility of its kind in the State of Ohio had its grand opening Thursday, September 19. The Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative is located on the Tri-Rivers Career Center Campus.
Historically, career centers, technical colleges, and four-year colleges have provided parts of the answer. Now, however, through the collaboration of Tri-Rivers Career Center, Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion, the Marion Area has the opportunity to offer the whole solution by partnering directly with business and industry to provide industrial robotics and advanced manufacturing skills/industrial certifications throughout Central Ohio and beyond.
The three schools, in partnership with companies like Honda of America, FANUC Robotics, FANUC CNC, Lincoln Electric and Yaskawa Motoman Robotics, have combined forces to make RAMTEC a reality.
“We truly believe manufacturing is alive and well in Ohio and we are involving all types of advanced automation,” said Charles Speelman, Superintendent for Tri-Rivers. “The need for RAMTEC is now.”

Tri-Rivers receives $200,000 Nursing Education Grant
/in Adult Education News/by web editorTri-Rivers Center for Adult Education & Career Center was awarded a $200,000 Nursing Education Grant to be used to increase nursing student enrollment capacity. The vision of the Success Center is to foster a learner-centered experience for nursing students’ success by serving as a resource for academic and psychomotor skills support with a diverse environment that is respectful, nurturing and challenging. The Success Center will provide students the opportunities for success through progressive strategies and technology.
Available Services will include: Classroom+Plus Tutoring program; Gate Way Program for exam preparation/remediation; Back on Track Program (Academic Recovery); Reading Assessment and Assistance; Tech Time, Keep your PsychoMOTOR Running and U-Turn Program.
This grant is for two years beginning 2013-14 school year and continuing through 2014-15. Grand funding will be used to purchase skills lab training equipment, non-equipment educational and training resources, to fund faculty to provide staffing, tutoring and support of the Success Center. Funding is provided by the Ohio Board of Nursing’s Nurse Education Grant Program and is part of their effort to address the nursing shortage with the State of Ohio by supporting Nurse Education programs in their efforts to increase enrollment capacity of nursing students and nursing educators.
