Project Manager

Carousels and Carvings is the only manufacturer of carousels to offer all necessary in-house services to build or restore complete carousels. We restore antique carousels by faithfully reproducing original parts that maintain the integrity of the original state of the carousel, turning them into the grand machines that they once were. The knowledge gained from these restorations is applied to the engineering of new carousels, allowing us to design and manufacture contemporary figures, facades, and mechanics that befits this day and age. With our large facility and talented crew, we have successfully worked on renowned carousels such as Jane’s Carousel in Brooklyn, New York, the Please Touch Museum’s Woodside Park Denzel Carousel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the B&B Carousell in Luna Park in Coney Island, New York.

We are looking to hire an experienced project manager with prior work in manufacturing or construction. You will organize and oversee manufacturing and restoration procedures as well as be a liaison between the company and our clients to ensure projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities: 

• Track costs and invoices for various projects with attention to budgetary limitations
• Estimate financial costs for materials, equipment, resources, travel, and manpower for various projects with attention to budgetary limitations
• Manage and track employee payroll
• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, manufacturers etc. to determine the specifications of the project
• Negotiate contracts with clients and/or external vendors
• Manage client, subcontractor and supplier relationships
• Assist in construction operations and scheduling to ensure deadlines will be met
• Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites
• Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes
• Travel, set up and/or tear down carousels on-site for various projects
• Acquire equipment and material for various departments within the company
• Hire contractors and allocate responsibilities
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Work alongside carvers, mechanics, painters, laborers, etc., providing guidance when needed

Qualifications and skills:

• 5+ years of experience in project management within manufacturing or construction
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in manufacturing management, construction management, engineering, or related field
• Experience in cost estimation and financial tracking
• Ability to schedule, negotiate, and control costs
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
• Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
• High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Must be able to travel
• Ability to perform physical labor and operate hand and power tools
• Familiarity in carousels is a plus, but not required
