Duties and Responsibilities:

*Denotes essential function

·       Customer service by triage of phone calls. Communicates with providers to ensure proper patient triage versus appointment scheduling.*

·       Thorough documentation of patient interaction.*

·       Completes appropriate patient notification, medical charting, and follow up on lab results that were performed and those that are pending.*

·       Completes appropriate patient notification, medical charting, and follow up on radiology results that were performed.*

·       Coordination of patient referrals to other physicians, radiology, and/ or any other needed appointment.

·       Medication refill review when requested by patient or pharmacy.

·       Responsible for medication pre authorizations through insurance companies when requested by physician.

·       Responsible for ensuring patients prenatal records are available to Labor and Delivery staff at hospital.

·       Actively participate in staff meetings/educational activities to improve environment and customer care.*

·       May be asked to complete administrative duties, such as drafting or reviewing policies and procedures, drafting clinical protocols or otherwise contributing to the overall functioning of the practice.

·       Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff.

·       Identifies critical situations involving a patient’s physical welfare and well-being.

·       Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all patients.

·       Practices proper methods of infection control and sterilization.

·       Completes appropriate follow-up on lab findings that were performed and those that are pending.

·       Maintains an independent area of practice with accountability for the quality of patient care.

·       Demonstrates a professional appearance and conduct.

·       Maintains all nursing standards, rules and requirements governed by the State Board of Nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·       Knowledge of Ohio Nursing Laws.

·       Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

·       Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

·       Basic computer skills.

·       Able to work well with others.

·       Good oral and written communication skills.

 

Minimum Necessary Patient Information:  This position will utilize any and all protected health information, including the entire medical record required for safe and accurate treatment of our patients.

 

Credentials and Experience:

·       Licensed nurse from an accredited school with a current Ohio nursing license
