Tri-Rivers Make A Difference Day was held Monday, October 7, 2013 . More than 200 students and staff members from Tri-Rivers Career Center participated in the school’s 5th  Annual Make A Difference Day.

The event was a collaborative project with the United Way of Marion.  This year’s activities included:
• Ag & Industrial Power students: Cleaning and painting tanks at Central Ohio Farmer’s Coop.
• CNET: computer work at TRECA.
• Welding students: Painting picnic tables and bathrooms and cleaning up at Lincoln Park.
• Veterinary Science students: General cleanup at the Marion Area Humane Society and exercising the dogs..
• Public Safety Services (Law Enforcement) students: Child Safety training at Epworth Daycare and Emmanuel Luthern.
• Precision Machining Students: Designing and creating plaques for United Way volunteers.
• Pathways students: Sorting at Goodwill Industries.
• Healthcare Professions students: Assisting residents at Kingston.
• Early Childhood Education students: projects at MARCA.
• Digital Media & Entertainment: computer classes for Senior Center.
• Culinary Arts: food prep at the Salvation Army.
• Construction Technologies: building benches for the downtown area.

Additional activities for Make A Difference Day will be held at a later date, including: Health Technologies students’ Reading Project at Pleasant Elementary; Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering students’ Robotics Project at Grant Middle School; Cosmetology students’ Spa Day for the Senior Center; and Auto Tech’s projects.

Many of the projects were based on students’ career interests and skills. For example, women from the local homeless shelter were treated to a “spa” day conducted by Cosmetology students, while Automotive Tech students winterized the their vehicles.
