Laws of Life Essay Winner

Nathan Holtz earned a superior rating for his essay entitled The Crosses That We Bear  from the Better Business Bureau’s Laws of Life Essay Contest. Holtz, along with his English instructors,  Julie Wick and Kristi Lewis, were recognized at a banquet held recently at the Villa Milano restaurant in Columbus. Read more

STEM Robotics training comes to Marion

 

Twelve area instructors participated in robotics training sponsored by Tri-Rivers Career Center through a training grant through the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation and Honda of America STEM grant hosted by Marion Technical College August 1through 5. The five-day training provided each participant with more than $1,300 worth of robotics hardware that they will provide to their students. Instructors received training in EasyC, RobotC and robotics PBASIC programming language to manipulate Vex www.vexrobotics.com and BoeBot www. www.parallax.com robots to compete various, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) tasks. Fall FISH! Day 2011

Tri-Rivers Annual FISH! Philosophy Day, Friday, August 19 was a huge success! Students and staff members enjoyed all the team building activities.

The FISH Philosophy is all about choosing your attitude each day. There are four main concept: Play, Make Their Day, Be There and Choose Your Attitude. These are the ingredients that make the World Famous Pike Place Fish Market and Tri-Rivers Career Center a fun environment for staff and students. Read more

New Student Orientation 2011

New Student Orientation is Tuesday, August 9 at the Career Center. Refreshments will be served starting at 6pm. The Opening Session is 6:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.

This event is for Level 1 and incoming Transitions students and their parents. The evening will include:
• Updates & News for 2011-2012
• Q  & A in Labs
• You can pick up your schedule
• Parent Handbooks will be available
• Last chance to buy uniforms at the discounted rate!

Great Start Days June 9 & 14

Career Center students will want to attend one of the Great Start Days, Thursday June 9, 1pm to 7pm or Tuesday, June 14, 7am to 1pm. You can stop in anytime on one of the days—Be done in 1 hour or less.

During Great Start students can purchase their uniforms, have their id photo taken, and fill in important forms.

Students should have already or will shortly receive a packet that includes more details on Great Start, as well as other important forms, etc.

The event is held in the Career Center Auditorium.

North Union honors teachers

The North Union Honor Society recognized 21 teachers, including three from Tri-Rivers as influential educators. The Banquet held Tuesday, May 24 highlighted the impact that these educators had on North Union seniors throughout their educational career.

Each student chose the most influential educator in his/her life and wrote a short explanation why the educator chosen had such an impact. The students read their papers at the potluck banquet where their influential educator was honored.

Three instructors from Tri-Rivers were selected for this honor by North Union Honor Society Members who attend Tri-Rivers; Cole Oates thanked  Instructor Barb Bell; Destini Fogle honored Instructor Roy Schweinfurth and Henry Carroll recognized Instructor Jim Rittler.

Staff Service Celebrated

Tri-Rivers Years of Service Recipients and Retirees were recognized during the End-of-the-Year Staff Gathering Wednesday, June 1 in the Multi-Purpose Room.

 

 

2011 Live Burn

Tri-Rivers Public Safety Services Level 2 students participated in a “Live Burn” training session recently. The students under the guidance of their instructors and local firefighters had the opportunity to practice the skills they’ve learned.
